CURRENT VALUE (de) http://www.myspace.com/currentvalue Berlin's Tim Eliot represents the top percentile of European drum & bass producers. With substantial training in classical piano, he began dabbling in electronic music in 1992. Several years later he began receiving recognition on local Berlin radio stations and a series of irrefutably classic 12"s ensued. Seminal works on Don Q and Position Chrome catapulted Current Value into a literal phase of underground superstardom. Shortly thereafter, he also began playing live in his hometown and subsequently in other places in Europe and in the USA. The early Position Chrome releases like 'Creative Robot', 'Skybreaker', and 'Bass Riot' were very well received... particularly in North America. The decidedly dark and often dissonant sound of the techstep revolution resonated with many disenfranchised junglists as well as electronica listeners; spearheaded in part by Current Value. With numerous singles and 4 LP's, Current Value left an indelible impression on the drum & bass and techno genres. With subsequent appearances on renowned labels like DonQ Records (Ger), Ruff-Teck (NL), Klangkrieg (Ger), Phantom Noise (Ger), NoBreaks (Ger), and Soothsayer Recordings, Current Value has continued to produce quality drum & bass for the dancefloor as well as the living room audience. In 2004, after 1 year of education, he received his Diploma at the School of Audio Engineering SAE - enhancing his production values and abilities even further. In mid 2005 Soothsayer released the first of several Current Value 12"s. Successive releases including a split 12" w/ Kid Kryptic (Soothsayer/Theoretic), and the monumental "The Unspoken" EP underscore the growing quality and number of Current Value releases. At last, it took him away from dismantling electrical appliances to find out how they worked, and distracted him from improvising with violin, Clarinet or drums - that to his own account he used to play ‘at mediocre level’. James was brought up in a musical household with both parents involved with opera, and always showed a healthy curiosity about music, listening to anything from Jazz to house. He got hooked on drum and bass at around 10, when he first heard the music in 1996 on pirate radios. To his own words, ‘it sounded totally alien’ and he was blown away. He started reading music technology magazines, managed to set up a basic studio and started experimenting. James’ first release happened thanks to his father, who often worked with Dom (of Dom & Roland’s fame) dad. The result was the 2004 ‘Vega EP’ on Moving Shadow. It was well received but unfortunately the seminal label stopped releasing music and it was another two years before James found another home with the legendary Ram Records. Impressed by the production skills displayed on the Vega EP, Andy C followed the progress of the young producer and ended up signing him to his label, with the first track ‘The Bypass’ – one of Optical’s favourite tunes - appearing on 2006’s Dimension EP and getting tongues wagging on the scene. James was then given the chance to make his own EP, and ‘the third stage’ was released in summer 2007. It included the suave ‘Rework’, produced in partnership with the Brookes Brothers, and a brilliant electro-breaks track ‘Asteroids’ that fits well with James’ open approach to music: ‘I’ve been into drum and bass for a long, long time – he recently told Knowlede magazine - That is great but it’s all about bringing in influences from elsewhere. I am really into all electronic music and I listen to a lot of techno and electro’. With signing Culture shock to its prestigious stable, Ram are nurturing yet another talent destined to expend the boundaries of the scene.

RAIDEN http://www.myspace.com/raidenoffkey Offkey's head honcho Raiden has been one of the most groundbreaking artists in drum and bass for the past 5 years. His massive anthem on Renegade Hardware 'Fallin' was followed by a prolific release schedule before he decided to take complete artistic control over his career and launch Offkey. Heavily influenced by the cold hipnotism of early Techno music, his mission has been to bring that icy atmosphere into his DJ sets and productions, resulting in the birth of what people refer to now as techno drum and bass. In constant demand for remix work, he gave a brand new take on DK8's Murder was the bass and Human Resources's Dominator, before releasing one of the most exciting records of 2005, Machinesoul with Propaganda, setting the standard for techno dnb ever since. Raiden also discovered and brought through new artists that he felt had the potential to do something exciting with the sound and created what is now the well known Offkey family which includes such luminaries as the Sect, Propaganda and Proket. Mr OffKey has collaborated with many of Drum and Bass finest artists, such as his good friends Dylan and The Panacea. He has regularly released records with Labels such as Position Chrome, Freak and his own OffKey imprint. Raiden's hectic international DJ schedule has taking him to all four corners of the world many times over and has regularly performed at many of the worlds top clubs such as the Liquid rooms in Japan and the End in London. Recently he has been steadily working on his debut LP Chernobyl Heart, scheduled for the end of april, the 22nd anniversary of the disaster with Profits going to UNISEF for the kids of Chernobyl fund. Inspired by the aftermath of the disaster, this LP is not to be a collection of drum and bass dancefloor tunes, but a musical representation of the tragedy and its after effects, the kind of project that only someone with the insight and artistry of Raiden can deliver. His other current main project is collaborating with well respected Techno artist Dean Rodell, under the moniker Dying Punks with a planned LP for 2008. This has already resulted in the first real crossover compositions between the two genres, and has also inspired Raiden to give up DJing and concentrate on a Live performance. Long-time friend and DJ partner Method joined soon after, completing the trio and The Sect was born. Hooking up with Raiden and Propaganda whilst living in Southampton, they all share the same love of driving, underground drum and bass, especially the breaks, techno and futuristic soundscapes that embody the Offkey sound. This culminated in their first signing to the label - 'Nerve Attack'. Heavily influenced by the futuristic releases on Underfire, the techno-edged Konflict sound and the early Prodigy tracks, The Sect aim to produce forward-thinking music which blends techno and drum and bass elements to move the dance floor. They are no strangers to the 1210s either, Blade & Method having DJ'd regularly at clubs and events across the UK and abroad for over ten years and Virtua showcasing his turntablist skills at the DMC championships. Although as individuals they have had various releases across a number of different genres (currently Virtua is enjoying success as one half of burgeoning Breakbeat duo Digital Breaks Foundation), together they are committed to pushing the technoid Drum & Bass sound and are excited to be a part of the Offkey family. With current releases on Offkey and Obscene and also a whole host of new tracks signed to Offkey, Freak, Position Chrome, ELP and Habit, The Sect are picking up interest from a lot of big name players within the scene, plus establishing themselves as big favourites of die hard Drum and Bass fans all over the world.
