  3. "No Strings Attached" is now reviewed by a3k on http://www.isratrance.com 01 – Psilo Cowboys – Innovative Perspective - 8:43 02 – Derango – Irrbloss Part 1 - 9:18 03 – Manic Bubbles – Subsonic Playground – 7:06 04 – Psilo Cowboys – Sweet And Sour – 8:38 05 – Derango – Irrbloss Part 2 – 7:22 06 – Manic Bubbles – 8220 Goa – 8:40 07 – Psilo Cowboys – Magnitude – 7:19 08 – Manic Bubbles – Patty´s Paradise – 8:38 09 – Derango – Via – 9:31 No Strings Attached is the new establishment of Parvati Records, a label that needs no introduction and it is well known by its singular and peculiar sonorities. Giuseppe is the man behind the label. But let us see what are this strings pulling: The CD begins with a rather calm track, Psilo Cowboys with Innovative Perspective (T1). The persons behind this project are Jahbo and Thy Trung. This music reflects what you can expect from this CD: highly acid and psychedelic music for the night time, stretching to far realms with hypnotic echoes. Expect to hear in this tune big amounts of little sounds, buzzing and “pipe” metallic resonances, everything that is required to take you higher. It is a nice opener. Derango comes with Irrbloss Part 1 (T2), a totally mind lost in the forest track. I must confess that I was a little bit anxious to hear their new works presented in the CD, because since their debut album, I had listen very few new tracks, and I expected to hear the same quality in here, and the wait was worth it! Top notch music! So, back to the track, the dynamic is way different from the first track? Way more energetic, but each to their own. Imagine thousands of sounds all in perfect harmony, creating this special, out of this world music, this is the feeling you may get while listening to Derango?s music. The music produced by the Swedish boys, remind me like a river that never stops flowing, and their music is always in motion, and we get never ending sounds; The main sounds I like most are the ones that seem drops falling on water. The leads are pure mind blowers, some acid, others very hypnotic and also space sounds. I also like very much also the percussive elements where you can hear some slowing downs, and speed ups, always accompanied with sounds. Twisted music at its best is, probably, the best word to describe this track. Favorite. Subsonic Playground (T3), from Maniac Bubbles diverges also from the previous 2 tracks - The mood, arrangements; all goes in another flow. This one is way more hypnotic than the previous and it touches obscure noises. It is a speedy up track, with all the sounds packed to create this “contained” tune, I mean, the track doesn’t have too many ups and downs or quick changes in the sonorities, on the contrary, it creates a continuum flow. Psilo Cowboys brings Sweet & Sour (T4). Like in their first track presented in the CD, this one also, runs on a smooth temper. This time we are transported into space sonorities, and alien sounds. It almost seems we are inside a sci-fi movie and the sounds we hear are from inside an alien vessel. Highly trippy music. Now we come to Irrbloss Part 2 (T5) track. This is the second part of the Irrbloss “series” and in this one we are presented with music more dry and spacey then the first part. You get more hypnotic sounds in this one, than its sister. But expect almost the same mood, of Derango’s music. Never ending mind blowing leads! You can also hear, and this is a usual thing in their music, like almost their trademark, sounds that are distorted, that remind me the buzz of a bee flying up and down, going in spirals, making crazy spins without ever telling her destiny. Favorite. 8220 Goa (T6) is the work of Maniac Bubbles. This tune is a full power track mainly because of the work of the percussive elements and the ripping leads. The energy transmitted by this one is very great! This is one of those tunes that when is spun gets everyone attention. Favorite. Psilo Cowboys bring their last tune with Magnitude (T7). A more vigorous track then the other two. And the analyze I make on this tune is: what a ride! Lots of leads, that I don’t know how the hell they were created, but they sure make their work. Sometimes ambiguous sometimes incisive this track is meant for you to wander lost in the dance floor. Amazing brakes and even better changing of sonorities. It is a clear case if you are connoisseur of Jahbo sonorities you can clearly hear his work on this track and on this particular track, comes to my mind the similarities, or at least it makes me recall the track presented on the previous compilation, No Time No Space, Jahbo with Ultrasonic Energy. This is a rollercoaster ride. Favourite. Patty’s Paradise (T8) from Manic Bubbles begins and ends with sonorities for inner travel. But in the middle of the track, its artistic direction changes and we are presented with a lead from another world: simply fantastic! It seems it “saws” your brain in little pieces; this electrifying type lead takes your feet from the ground. Favorite. And so we reach our final destination with Derango’s Via. And what a great way to end this voyage! This tune is a little bit different from Derango’s usual works, mainly because of the percussive elements, because in this one they are way more powerful and more upfront than the rest of the other sounds. But as always expect the duo madness, and with that buzzing bee effect even more present than in the other two tracks. What a fantastic way to end this amazing voyage! Favorite. The mastering of the CD was made by Drix at the See Thru Frog Studio. I have got no info on who made the artwork but I find amusing the cover of the CD, with a skeleton holding a scissor, and I must tell although it has a skeleton it is no way connected with evil images. It is a funny, full of little drawings and lots of colors. Different but appellative. Recommendation: I just want to say that this is another awesome release from Parvati Records. This split CD brings highly psychedelic music, the Derango?s tracks just blew me away, Psilo cowboys was a great surprise, although I think I knew what to expect when Jahbo is involved, plus working with Thy Trung could only mean quality, and Manic Bubbles was interesting for the sonorities it explored. So the aim to make magical carpet voyages inside the “spectator” listener was accomplished. If you are a collector of Parvati music this is a must have, (if you are not you should be - this is a solid label), or if you only like good quality music, than this is also a must have. One of the best releases so far this year. 8. We are happy to present here to the psychedelic community 10 fresh tunes from our pool of artists. This new compilation, titled NO TIME NO SPACE, will be available from the middle of September. On our website www.parvati-records.com/news.html you can now listen to short samples of the tracks. Beside old heroes of the danish crew like Jahbo, Mussy Moody, Monno & Jaffa (GOW) both here with their solo projects Onkel Dunkel and Syntax Error, “No Time No Space” introduces few new rising acts: Arjuna, the italian label dj, who already appeared on the Psy Stories 3 as Acoustic Reaktion, Kuro Fusion, a young talent from the Netherlands, for sure the insider´s tip and a hot name in the future. The Makedonian attitudes of highly tripped out atmospheres delights us in the shape of Atriohm brothers with their recent state of the art. Papiyan, again a danish project from the Aarhus posse, is also taking part in this acid fracasis together with Gidra from India and a corporation bewteen System Overload (Eske from the Hokus Pokus project) and Mubali from USA. To make this journey again to an exciting and for sure sneaky grooved out trip we have tried to spread the fun factor throughout the tracklist and conjures the Parvati twisted grin. Mastered again by Drix in Aarhus like all our previous releases. The long awaited split album between Psilo Cowboys, Derango and Maniac Bubbles will be released sometime after No Time No Space. 10. Review by DeathPosture: Gob smacking trip tales pt. 3 Psy Stories 3 is the 13th (oo-er!) release by Danish underground psytrance outfit Parvati Records – and the final instalment in the Psy Stories trilogy. The first one, released in October 2005, was a masterpiece and still holds the position as the seminal Parvati release. The follow-up, released in June 2006, was a real whirlwind too and was *almost* as good… Great, great stuff all together, so yeah, I’ve been jumping around in concentric circles ever since this third opus was announced. Sadly it’s also the last in the series, but hey, I’m sure more Parvarti madness awaits so I’m only frowning for a sec… Enough jabbering, it’s story time. Let me take you thru the tracks… #01: Mussy Moody – Clear Fusion [146 BPM] As with the first two Psy Stories, Danish producer Thy Trung opens the ball with a taste of her fingerlicking psytrance… This is twirling, acid-fuelled, bass-heavy psytrance rooted deep in the Århus underground… Crackling textures, syncopated synths and totally trippy stuff… Some of the best stuff I’ve heard from Thy… A lovely piece of rich, shroomy girl-power psytrance! #02: Acoustic Reaktion – Spystories [149 BPM] Next up is a track by Parvati label DJ Arjuna (Arjuna Musicco) from Italy. To my knowledge, this is his first released track… At least it’s my first encounter with his music. The track opens with the subtle beat of a filtered-down drum, which soon evolves into a driving, rapid beast… The atmosphere is liquid and spongy and the psychedelic little quirks are sprinkled about just the way I like ‘em… The rhythm section is immensely complex, which will cater to both trippers, dancers and underwater trancers… A very lush track! #03: Dronebixie – Paths In Nature [149 BPM] Jingle bells! Danish producer Christian Kaas Andersen has made some real amazing stuff in the past – and I’ve always appreciated his somewhat anti-climactic style. His subtle full-off style takes psytrance to new, uncharted territories – and this track is no exception. And though this runs @ an incredible 149 beats per minute, it never gets too full-on… It’s somewhat ‘halted’ and that’s pretty unique within this kind of music. So, as usual this track caters more for the focussed home-listener than the tripped-out dancer… A very interesting track. #04: Snap, Crackle & Pop – Where Is Pop? (Syntax Error Rmx) [148 BPM] S,C&P was a one-off collaboration between Grapes Of Wrath (Jacob Skouborg/Jaffa & Morten Wurtz/Monno) & Kindzadza (Leo Greshilov) formed for the first Psy Stories compilation. The original track was an epic underground mega-hit of unforeseen dimensions – and this remix by Jaffa adds even more magic monkey juice to the mix…. If the first track was dark, this is pitch black. If the original was psychedelic, this is über-psychedelic…. It’s lingering somewhere between amazing and downright perverted! It’s a big, stinking pile of what-the-fuck-was-that!? (And in this context, that’s meant as a superlative, mind you!) Blimey! #05: Encephalopaticys – Chaotic Secrets [148 BPM] Vasko Velickovski is one of the key players in the Macedonia psytrance yakuza and it seems his tracks are popping up everywhere recently… His output has always been pretty high quality, though his compilation tracks have often been outweighed by other players with even greater tracks… And such is the case here. I mean, this is a very nice, driving piece of nocturnal psytrance with a bunch of interesting ideas and quirky twists, but somehow it’s not enough. The x-factor is not present, thus this track doesn’t make it to the stand-out reel. #06: Atriohm – Paranormal Amplifier [148 BPM] The other two top dogs in the Macedonian psytrance yakuza are the Golcev brothers Leonid & Aleksandar. I’ve always been fond of both their mellow downbeat tracks and their enthralling upbeat tunes… And this is another hit! Atmospheric, pounding night-trance with enough acid to go around twice and a surprise electro-clash middle bridge… Brilliant! #07: Red Eye Jedi – Infiltrator [150 BPM] The Jedi is Stephanus Smit from Denmark and his tracks have been on all three Psy Stories compilations. Once again Stephanus gives us something totally intense and incredibly complex. This is IDM-inspired, spugedelic psytrance designed for hard-trippers and sickos. Definitely not for the faint-hearted, nor the easily scared. This is about as introvert as it gets when we’re talking Parvati – and in essence this is demented, gut-wrenching stuff. And sadly just a tad too complex for my taste. #08: Gidra – Joker’s Joke [150 BPM] From the motherland itself, Goa/India, comes a track by Gidra aka. Thomas Aquino Lobo… It goes without saying, that this is yet another extremely fast-paced piece of murky, cheese-repellent psytrance – but unlike the previous track, this seems less chaotic… Raw, pounding and leering on the bleak side… Luckily there are enough odd-ball, trippy elements to keep me entertained. A brutal, yet enchanting track. #09: Hokus Pokus – BZ’er [150 BPM] Christian Kaas Andersen (Dronebixie) is joined by Anders Eskildsen in their Hokus Pokus outfit which has been featured on all three Psy Stories volumes. This is their fastest track though – and perhaps their most accessible… This is scrump-dedeli-umptious psytrance aimed for both the feet and the mind. Downright groovy, luscious and body-temperature rising stuff… I’m totally digging the bubbly, playful nature of this fantastic track… Amazing! Well there you have it. The final instalment in the gob smacking Psy Stories trilogy. As we’ve come to expect, Parvati always delivers the goods in the shape of relentlessly powerful hypertrance. This is another collection of mostly fiiiiiiiine tracks by some of the underground front-runners. Sure a couple of the tracks were a little too complex for me, but as always, they were easily outweighed by the abundance of really excellent choons. In comparison, the first Psy Stories compilation is still the best, but this second one is pretty damn cracking too. The cover art by Betinna Butann is a winner in all its kitchy glory and I still find myself amazed by the seemingly bottomless pool of sheer mass which Parvati Records seems to have unlimited access to. TwiBBle fums up to Guiseppe & Crew for their continued quest to cater to the masses. Hypertrance fans and members of the Parvati Army in particular needs to own this bitchin’ piece of plastic. It’s underground Top Of The Pops. It’s sick, soulful and totally sexy! It’s complete qwnage. Enjoy! Favourites: 1(!), 2, 4(!), 6, 8, 9(!!) 14. Psy Stories 2 - V/A - PARVATI RECORDS Review by DeathPosture (Psynews.org) Artist: Various Title: Psy Stories 2 (Parvati Records Advisory: Explicit Psychedelic) Format: CD (digipack) Label: Parvati Records (Denmark) Cat. #: PRVCD12 Distribution: Wirikuta Date: 01 June 2006 Web: www.parvati-records.com Track listing: 01. 07’51” Psilo Cowboys – Sneaky Vibes 02. 09’18” Derango - Oscilla 03. 09’16” Hokus Pokus – Rock On 04. 07’25” Red Eye Jedi – RP5 05. 08’04” Encephalopaticys – Intellectual Homons 06. 07’38” Galaxy Madness – Parvati Cream 07. 07’41” Atriohm – No Name Channels 08. 07’57” Phonic Request & Akhoa – Bee People Abduction 09. 07’45” Kindzadza & Kaliflower – Viva Tempo 10. 06’57” Tsabeat - Magletcha Review: Gob smacking trip tales pt. 2 Danish power house label Parvati Records is out with their 12th release following the brilliant debut album Mad Different Methods from Naked Tourist - which was released in January 2006. The first Psy Stories compilation was released in October 2005 – and what a release that was! It’s still rated as the BEST Parvati release in my book, so when it turned out to be a running series I was extremely ecstatic… When I saw the track list, there was no turning back – I creamed my pants! After I washed them, I received the CD, put it on and creamed them again… So now I’m wearing rubber undies writing this… Just in case… Let me take you thru the tracks… #01: Psilo Cowboys – Sneaky Vibes [149 BPM] “He’s been injected with an opium overdose. Couldn’t move or feel much of anything! … What’s your name? My name is ‘very fucking confused’, what’s your name? What’s going on here?” Psilo Cowboys is an ancient Danish project by Roelike Jahbo (Jahbo/Meteloids/etc) and Thy Trung (Mussy Moody). This constellation hasn’t released anything since their track on the very first Parvati compilation First Step released five years ago! Naturally the sound has matured a great deal since then, and especially Jahbo has been involved in some jaw-droppingly amazing stuff since then… Anyway, this track is just what I’d hoped for – absolutely fucking soaked in twirling acid-lines, fragmented rhythm pads and several other trip tools… The Saw samples work really well here, and generally this is a brilliant tune… Great start! #02: Derango – Oscilla [147 BPM] Swedish studio enigmas Jens Eriksson & Ola Eriksson released their absolutely amazing debut album TuMuLT on Inpsyde Media in the fall of 2005 – and their track on the 2006 Sanaton Audio compilation Sanatonic Audio was just as immensely trippy and super psychedelic as the stuff on the album… This track is perhaps even more psychedeliKk – the acid-lines are tweaked beyond recognition and the demented melodies are literally radiating nuclear shock waves which will penetrate your brain and FUCK you up! And the best part is that it’s all made in such a subtle, noble fashion… It’s subtle psychedelia! Lovely! #03: Hokus Pokus – Rock On [148 BPM] Danish producers Anders Eskildsen & Christian Kaas Andersen (Dronebixie) had excellent tracks on both the first Psy Stories compilation and the above mentioned Sanatonic Audio. Talented guys for sure! As with their older tracks, this is subtle, held-back night trance that never gets too full-blown… That might seem like an odd observation with a track that runs @ 148 BPM, but it’s true nevertheless… This is bubbling, playful and rippling psytrance with a very special atmosphere – and in that regard this works better as a transition tool for DJs than as a dancefloor track… Not among the frontrunners on this compilation. It’s still pretty damn trippy though… #04: Red Eye Jedi – RP5 [150 BPM] Stephanus Smit from Denmark spelled his artist name Red i Jedeye on the first Psy Stories compilation – and now he spells it Red Eye Jedi. But despite the name change, Stephanus can still whoop up a mean old bassline in an old-school inspired psychedelic stomper of a track… The intensity level is very high here, and perhaps even a little too intense in the first part of the track… It evens out very nicely after the break down though – and the last half of this track is just pure tripalicious psychedelia… Kick-ass! #05: Encephalopaticys – Intellectual Homons [149 BPM] Behind the cryptic moniker Encephalopaticys is Vasko Velickovski from Macedonia. I’m only familiar with one of his previous tracks – the wonderful one on the 2005 Xilium Records compilation Over Identity… Just like that one, this is an extremely hard-hitting, fast-paced, über-dark track… The bassline is pounding away at an incredible speed and if it wasn’t for the surrounding FX it would have bored me to death… But this is Parvati Records after all, so luckily we’re treated to an influx of trippy FX, twists, turns, bleeps, bloops and tons of tweaked synth experimentation… It’s all fine and dandy, but somehow I still think this track is missing something… The X-factor is not present… It’s not a bad track at all – unfortunately it’s not as memorable as I’d hoped for either… But hey, it’s just because the competition is SO fierce on this compilation. This would easily have been a stand-out track on an average compilation. #06: Galaxy Madness – Parvati Cream [148 BPM] Galaxy Madness is Suguru Akita – an upcoming artist from Japan who had a track on the infamous Phenix compilation released by Phreex Network in late 2005. And trust me – all subtly is long gone now… This is 100% in-your-face, wall-to-wall maximum night trance… Simple at first, but soon evolves into a raging monster that devours everything in sight… Holy trout – this is so freakishly intense despite its often monotonous nature… Usually I would oppose against music like this, but somehow I’m drawn in by it. Completely hypnotized! I’m turning Japanese! Genki! … Smashing track! Very original! #07: Atriohm – No Name Channels [147 BPM] Everything I’ve heard from Leonid & Aleksandar Golcev from Macedonia has been above average quality… These guys are very talented, and this track underlines that fact once again… From the rusty, crackling intro to the spot-on sequencing and cleverly placed trip tools scattered all over this vicious track… This is eerie, haunting and very industrial-sounding stuff… But most importantly, the psychedelic edge is kept intact… Sweet! #08: Phonic Request & Akhoa – Bee People Abduction [148 BPM] Wilfried Decaesteker (Phonic Request) and Olivier Charpier (Akhoa) have been in cahoots on a number of releases on different labels… I really like their humorous take on psytrance which kinda simplifies this nocturnal music, which can often come across as a little pretentious with all the darkness and acid all over the place….And sure enough, this track also relies on a little comic relief. Like the sampled bees used in the intro and several other places in the track… And it works really well – you really do get the feeling that you’re among those fascinating insects when listening to this somewhat claustrophobic track… It’s simple but effective! Beeeeeeeuitiful! #09: Kindzadza & Kaliflower – Viva Tempo [149 BPM] Russian producer Leo Greshilov (Kindzadza) is a Parvati regular – and among the most productive frontrunners of the so-called darkpsy artist pool… On this track he’s joined by some Russian dude only credited as Dasha (Kaliflower) and AFAIK this is his debut release… Anyway, this is a monstrous track – right from the massive electro-soaked intro the power level goes thru the roof! Energetic, relentless, propane-injected hyper trance that will appeal equally to dancers and sofa trancers… I like the sharp contrast between electro and trip-tastic psytrance – as well as the sheer level of energy… Often energetic music tends to loose focus, but that’s not the case here – fortunately! This is just pure, psychedelic night trance… Awesome! #10: Tsabeat – Magletcha [147 BPM] Israeli producer Elad Weinberg kinda scared me with his demented almost drill&bass-like track on the Mistress Of Evil compilation Trauma Trance released in late 2005… And this track is another extremely hardcore tour de force into the deepest, darkest and weirdest realms of hyper trance… But damn, it TOTALLY works here! If you’re the kind of pervert that takes your psytrance über dark, totally twisted and extremely hardcore, well then this track will send you straight to heaven… I like most of what I hear here – but admittedly some parts are still too damn intense even for me… But generally this is very interesting and it’s destined to send chock waves thru the trance floors this summer! Another fan-fucking-tastic Parvati release! That’s right, I might sound like the biggest whore around, but when it comes to Parvati there is never a dull moment or a mediocre release! This is top-drawer stuff from the leading label in hyper trance! And yes, that means more creamed pants! It’s only natural to compare this with the first Psy Stories compilation – and after some careful consideration and judgement, I can conclude that Psy Stories 2 is *almost* as good as Psy Stories which wins only by a nose hair… But that one is gonna be VERY hard to top, as it’s definitely my fav’e Parvati release ever! Anyway, with only a couple of minor gripes, this compilation is packed with hard-hitting, gut-wrenching, jaw-dropping psytrance… Trippy as ever and totally danceable! The cover art by Batunn is lovely, and whilst the parental advisory sticker gag perhaps is a little outdated, it doesn’t ruin the impression of another high quality Parvati release! Well done! An essential purchase for any dedicated fan of relentless, nocturnal and trippy psytrance… Nuff said! Enjoy! Favourites: 1, 2(!), 4, 6(!!), 7, 8, 9(!), 10
