brigada
Asura's Lost Eden is more like paradise regained. It stands as one of the year's best chillout album. The first sounds on the album immediately transport you into another world. It's as if you are embarking on a journey. The first track, also the title track, “Lost Eden” sets the atmosphere for what you will be listening to in the next hour including incredible vocal samples from all over the world mixed with mellow electronic beats and gorgeous synth sounds. The next two tracks, “From The Abyss” and “Raindust,” pull you further along into this musical journey, but it's “Land & Freedom” that is the heart of the album. This track slowly builds out of nowhere. It starts with ambient wind-like sounds and then a subtle flute floats along the breeze to usher in the percussion, nice samples and quiet vocals. “Fahrenheit” follows up with some guitar sounds reminiscent of Spain before it reaches its full stride complete with pulsing drumbeats. At the exact halfway point in the album is “Requiem From Nowhere,” a 10-minute epic of sparse sounds and creative rhythms that lull you into relaxation. The last track on the album, “Le Vol D'Icare” is the perfect end to this album. Its lush, upbeat and sprinkled with melodies. While still a totally chilled, the track has enough energy to leave you feeling revitalized. It would be easy to compare Asura to Enigma, Peter Gabriel or Afro Celt Sound System, but any comparison is going to have shortcomings. The fact is, Asura have a unique voice that brilliantly shines through on this album. http://www.saikosounds.com/english/display...ase.asp?id=4522
